ZINVO Accelerates Yet Again with Supercars Club Arabia
Following up last year’s successful partnership with Supercars Club Arabia, ZINVO takes another ride with the group of passionate supercar enthusiasts on their latest rally. Supercars Club Arabia, the first club devoted to the passion of motor racing in the Middle East, was established in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Their latest tour, Delmonya, was the third event organized by the club and ZINVO was there for every adrenaline-fueled step of the way. The word “Delmonya” refers to the oldest civilizations in the Middle East (Dilmun), which was located in the Persian Gulf, namely, Bahrain.
The club connects 150 individuals from around the world that share the same passion for motorsports and supercars. Delmonya gathered over 40 supercars that would be any motorhead’s dream—15 Ferraris, 10 Lamborghinis, 10 Porsches, five McLarens, and others. Nowhere else in the world are people able to witness such rare supercars racing together across borders.
The six-day event ran from February 15th-21st, 2017, and spanned three countries—starting in Bahrain, then Qatar (through Saudi Arabia), and ending in the UAE with Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The first day was in Manama, the capital city of Bahrain, where everyone warmed up their supercars on the famous Bahrain International Circuit in preparation for the long trip ahead.
Connecting Bahrain and Saudi Arabia is the King Fahad Causeway. A 16-mile long bridge/causeway with four lanes, it has been around since 1983 and carries around 25,000 vehicles every day between the two countries. The Supercars Club had a police escort to accompany them and not even the rain slowed down the speed of these amazing machines.
The third day brought the Superclub Arabia squad to Doha, Qatar for laps around the Losail International Circuit. It's amazing how these supercars can withstand such stressful driving—a true testament to their outstanding engineering. As a show of comradery, the team started the first lap with their doors flung open, resembling a swarm of jets. Since the roads were nice and wet, the drivers took advantage by performing donuts.
Next stop was the UAE, where the Club required speed bumps to be removed from the roads to avoid damage to the ultra-low cars! The group of drivers and cars then sped around the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, which is host to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The last leg of the Delmonya Rally was the hour-long drive to Dubai where police escorts led the team. In true Dubai fashion, the police cars chosen to lead the escort were a McLaren 570s, a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and an Audi R8!
The tour ended at the Dubai Fountain, a "dancing fountain" near the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa. A fitting end to a spectacular tour.
